H.J. Collins & Associates will be on site to coordinate the construction process and provide quality control.

At H.J. Collins & Associates, our design program places primary emphasis on responding to client needs with creative design solutions.  We listen carefully to clients’ expressed needs and desires, and connect these to the characteristics of their property.  For example, something as simple as how one approaches the site by car or on foot is taken into account.  Some situations may require consideration of space for guest parking, pedestrian approach to the main entrance, and visual exposure of the property to the street, as well as driveway location itself.  All of these elements must be analyzed together to result in optimal function and aesthetic quality.

Spaces for outdoor entertaining and recreation, whether a small patio, swimming pool, or other gathering space, is carefully located and appropriately integrated with the architecture.  The introduction of larger scale elements, such as a tennis court or swimming pool, and smaller scale elements such as walls, walkways and patios are designed to blend into the landscape terrain.  Trees, shrubs, ground covers and perennial gardens add the final compliments to the creation of a luxurious space for outdoor living.

The first meeting is on us.  A phone call or email is all it takes to arrange an on-site meeting with Hugh Collins to discuss your project.  There is no fee for this meeting.  During our initial visit, we discuss your thoughts and ideas regarding the extent of your project.  We walk and analyze the site with you evaluating physical characteristics and the site’s capacity to accommodate your intended improvements.

Once a verbal project scope has been achieved, we prepare a written proposal / agreement for your review.  Upon receiving a signed agreement, we conduct a site analysis and site measure, and prepare a scaled AutoCAD layout plan, describing in detail existing features and conditions of your property.  Along with photographic documentation of the site, this existing conditions base map provides comprehensive information including property lines, utilities, trees and shrubs, ledge outcrops, wetlands, grades and so on.  This serves as the basis for all design work.  More complex sites or sites adjacent to wetlands, may require the services of a land surveyor.

A blueprint for success. Upon acceptance of the design proposal, we create conceptual landscape plan(s) in color which illustrate all features of the proposed design integrated with preexisting conditions.  Based upon your response to the conceptual plan, a detailed scope of work and cost analysis will be prepared.  When plans are complete and the scope and cost of work has been finalized and approved, construction begins.  H.J. Collins & Associates will be on site to coordinate the construction process, continuously monitor progress and provide quality control.
